Sanctuary means providing a place of refuge for animals who have come to us from  the wild, private homes, and the research, agriculture and  entertainment industries. We provide permanent protection from the use and abuse our culture inflicts upon animals that are considered objects of ownership, sources of food or entertainment, and tools for education and research.
All of the Fauna residents now enjoy the freedom to be themselves  -- as much as captivity allows --- and are no longer obligated to work, provide food, be butchered, entertain,  act as human companions, or be tools to teach or do research.   In our care, our residents are protected from human exploitation. We do not allow any of our residents to be removed from sanctuary. Fauna is their forever home that provides them with whatever food, shelter, medical attention, companionship and enrichment they need in order to lead lives as happy and healthy as possible, free from the fear and hardships they have known.
Our website will help you understand in more depth the challenges and realities of creating and running a sanctuary, including the joys and sorrows of knowing so many wonderful animals.
